Avoid These Roofing Scams at All Cost

Roofing scams can happen to any homeowner who’s not too careful. You’ll lose time and money spent on improving your roof, which will be more than inconvenient. Fortunately, these are avoidable if you know what to watch out for.

As a trusted contractor in residential roofing systems, Advanced Roofing explains below some of the most common roofing scams you need to avoid:

Subpar Repairs

These types of roofing scams are often difficult to spot until after a contractor is already gone. You may be very happy with the results for months, but then problems will start to appear suddenly and you’ll be forced to repair your roof sooner than you think.

The reason behind the delay in identifying this type of roofing scam is because it’s easier to make a show of installing new shingles and other roofing material without fixing the actual issue beneath a roofing structure. Your roof may look great on the outside, but it will still perform almost just as bad as it was before. You won’t notice any problems until severe weather hits your area.

Unusually Low Starting Bids

When you call in local roof repair contractors for an estimate of your project, you’ll notice that some of them are giving bids that are higher or lower than the rest. You’re getting several bids to get a better idea of how much you’re going to spend, but the prices should still be similar to each other. If you’re interested in a bid that seems much lower than the rest, then you may want to think twice before considering it.

Accepting a very low starting bid won’t mean you’ll save money on your roofing project, as it doesn’t guarantee the contractor will do a good job. Their bid may be low due to using lower grade materials or their workmanship isn’t really the best in the area. Your roofing project may end up going below your expectations and you’ll likely have problems again sooner than you think.
