We recently completed work on the Bailey Hobson home. The Hobson home is the oldest structure in Dupage county. It was originally constructed in 1865.
It recently sustained an enormous amount of fire damage. Advanced Roofing Inc. was awarded the job of replacing the slate roofing. Slate roofing was eventually located to match the existing through extensive inquiries and searching nationwide resources.
Excessive amounts of roof decking and rafters had to be removed and replaced prior to the new roof installation.
Castello Della Luna Estate
We recently completed the roof work on the Castello Della Luna Estate in Naperville.
This single family home was built to resemble a Scottish castle. It has over 16,000 square feet of living space.
Advanced Roofing installed over 20,000 square feet of lifetime shingles on this home with all wall, base, and counter flashings custom constructed out of 16 ounce copper.
Due to the expansive size of the home, the builder required that each section be roofed immediately after it was framed and sheathed to protect the integrity of the inside floors and walls. The framing took over 13 weeks to complete which resulted in us making over 19 trips to the jobsite to complete our work in its entirety.
This job was a real challenge from the safety side, due to the extreme amount of workmen present from all the trades performing their jobs (on what seemed like every square foot of the home and grounds) to prevent anything from falling from the roof and injuring someone during our installation process. We are happy to report that, once again, our experienced crew finished the job safely and without any incident!
Colby House - Aurora
Work was just completed on the "Colby House" for the complete tear-off of the old shingles and installation of new 40-year architectural laminated shingles. This grand old home is on the National Historic Register District compilation of homes.
With the home still being in the original state that is was built and decorated in, the first layer of wood shingles were present from when the home was built in 1910.
Tarps and barriers were constructed and used to protect the "one of a kind" windows doors and decorative moldings found through out the entire home. Plastic wrap was also installed in the third floor walk-in attic to help cover and protect the valuably artifacts being stored there. Lumber was placed on the original brick driveway to prevent any damage from the heavy trucks bringing materials and taking away debris.
With the multiple layers of roofing, a total of 12,000 square feet of roofing was removed and replaced. All this debris created over 60 cubic yards of material that was picked-up and hauled away to the local landfill.
As per the cities historical department requirements, special permits were applied for and obtained by us before any work could begin.
We considered it a privilege, to acquire the trust and confidence that the homeowner placed in us, to install the new roof on such a "Special Home".
City of Aurora Salt Dome
Work was just completed for the complete tear-off of the old shingles and installation of new 30-year architectural laminated shingles on one of the cities salt domes.
Deteriorated sheathing and fascia boards were replaced as necessary and total of 15,200 square feet of roofing was removed and replaced.
A granule surfaced, modified bitumen membrane roof system was installed on the two low sloped roofs.
Our crews worked closely with the city officials during the construction, as this site is used on a daily basis by the streets and sanitation department vehicles. Debris had to be consistently cleaned up and a magnet on wheels was used to keep the concrete clear of nails.
Our crews used their extensive experience to safely finish this unusual job without incident.
